 Everybody’s Favorite Entrepreneur Vijay Eswaran

Vijay Eswaran is a self-made billionaire and has been listed among the top three executives in Asia by Forbes. Vijay is one of the principal founders of Malaysia-based GIC Private Limited, a leading global investment firm. His company’s success is attributed mainly to his innovative strategies, which include investments in technology and communication.

He has also expanded into retail, luxury hotel services, financial services, and development industries. According to Forbes Asia 2017 rankings, Vijay had a net worth of $1 billion and is one of Malaysia’s wealthiest individuals in the private sector. Eswaran also made his mark in the Hollywood industry. He became the first Malaysian to produce and star in a Hollywood feature film with his 2017 “Psycho-Pass: Logio” blockbuster.

Vijay Eswaran was born in Kuala Lumpur in December 1963. He grew up in a household of modest means. At eighteen, he joined the Royal Navy as a part of his military service obligation. His role involved being stationed at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission as a telecommunication officer for two years. Vijay left his military career and moved to Australia, where he enrolled at Melbourne University to study Information Systems. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Information Systems Technology in 1987.

Vijay then started his career in the IT industry by joining Ernst & Young as an IT consultant. He subsequently moved to the United States and began working for Apple Computer. After a year, he was accepted as an intern at Bell Labs, where he worked on imaging technology that enhanced optical scanning technologies. He developed an innovative technology called the ‘Scanned Array Image Sensor (SASI).’

The most exciting part about Vijay Eswaran is his commitment to social causes. He is a philanthropist and has been involved in several projects, including education, health care, the arts, and the environment. His company, E-Resources, a nonprofit organization, promises access to education for underprivileged students in South America.
